Jianing Kong studied at the Canton Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou and was offered a full scholarship to study at the Purcell School, England in 2002, where he studied with the late Ronald Smith. He studied at the Royal College of Music with Ruth Nye, Gordon Fergus-Thompson and Professor Dmitri Alexeev, graduating with both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. Jianing has also studied at Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Alfredo Perl.

Jianing gave his London debut in 2003 with the Purcell Symphony Orchestra at the Duke’s Hall, Royal Academy of Music. He has given performances across the UK and Europe including Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Steinway Hall (London) and the Salle Cortot. As a concerto soloist, Jianing has appeared with the Purcell School Symphony Orchestra under Paul Daniel, Hallé Orchestra under Sir Mark Elder, the Ealing Symphony Orchestra, the St. Johns Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wollone under Michael Hofsetter and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Radiotelevisión Española under Pablo González.
